Yes. Everything Rymot Local observes about your work — the apps you use, the sites you visit, your focus sessions — is written to a database on your own machine and is never uploaded. It takes no account, no email, and no payment details, so there is nothing about you for us to hold.

For three things, none of which carry your activity. It checks our update server for a newer version. It sends anonymous product analytics — which screens get opened, not what they contain. And it sends a crash report when something breaks. The last two can be switched off in Settings → Privacy, and switching them off stops them entirely. Your activity data is not part of any of these and never leaves your device.

Not today. The source is private while the product is still taking shape, so you are trusting the download rather than the code. We publish every release through this site and our own update server, we tell you exactly what leaves your machine, and analytics and crash reporting are yours to turn off.

Windows flags installers from newer publishers until they build up install volume — this is normal for independent software, not a sign of a problem. Click "More info" then "Run anyway" to continue.

No. The Windows installer runs as a per-user install by default and doesn't require admin rights. The Linux .deb package installs system-wide via apt/dpkg, which does need sudo.

Download the file, then run "sudo dpkg -i" followed by the filename in a terminal. If dependencies are missing, follow with "sudo apt -f install" to resolve them automatically.

Use the .deb on Debian, Ubuntu, Mint and other Debian-based systems — it integrates with your package manager and application menu. Use the .AppImage everywhere else, including Fedora, Arch and openSUSE: make it executable and run it, with nothing installed system-wide.

Rymot Local checks for updates itself and can install them in place, keeping your local database. You can also download the latest installer from this page at any time — it replaces the previous version without touching your data.

The macOS build is signed for updates but not yet notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper blocks the first launch. Right-click the app in Applications and choose Open, then Open again in the dialog. You only do this once. Notarization is in progress.

One universal build runs natively on both Apple Silicon (M1 and later) and Intel Macs, on macOS 11 Big Sur or newer. There is no separate download to choose between.

Screen Recording lets Rymot read window titles so it can tell which app you're in — it never records or stores your screen. Accessibility reads the address of the browser tab you're viewing. Input Monitoring counts keystrokes as a measure of activity, never their content. Decline any of them and that specific signal is simply missing.

In a local SQLite database in your user data directory — %APPDATA%/rymot on Windows, ~/.local/share/rymot on Linux, and ~/Library/Application Support/com.rymot.local on macOS. Nothing is uploaded; you can open, inspect, or delete it at any time.
