A website blocker built for focus.
Rymot Local blocks the websites and apps you choose while a focus session runs, and gives them back when it ends. It works on Windows, macOS and Linux, on your computer, with no account.
Free · Windows · macOS · Linux · v0.7.0
01How it works
Three steps. Nothing to remember.
- 01
Pick what to block
Set each website or app to Ask, Block or Allow. Block keeps it closed during focus; Ask checks in after a while instead of blocking; Allow is never interrupted.
- 02
Start a focus session
From the Flow Planner or the Focus page. The rules apply only while the session runs — the rest of your day is untouched.
- 03
It opens again when you finish
Blocked sites and apps come back by themselves when the session ends. Nothing to turn off, nothing to remember.
02Try it
Set a rule. Start a session.

Set a rule, start a session, then open each one. Websites are blocked by the Rymot browser extension; apps by the desktop app.
Nothing is blocked yet.
Rules apply only while a focus session runs. Start one, then open something.
03In context
Blocking is one part of a focus session.
The same session can open your workspace, play rain or another sound, and track where the time went — all on your computer. More about focus in Rymot Local
04Questions
Asked often.
Is Rymot Local a free website blocker?
Yes. Rymot Local is free, with no account and no trial period. Website and app blocking is part of it.
How does website blocking work?
The Rymot browser extension checks the site you open against your list. During a focus session a blocked site shows Rymot's block page instead, and the tab returns to the site when the session ends. The extension is needed for websites; apps are handled by the desktop app.
Which browsers does it work with?
Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave and others) and Firefox, each with its own copy of the extension. Settings → Integrations shows whether each browser's extension is connected.
Can it block apps as well as websites?
Yes. A blocked app shows a Rymot dialog during the focus session with a Back to focus button. It is yours again when the session ends.
Is anything blocked outside a focus session?
No. Rules apply only while a focus session is running.
Can I still get to a blocked site if I need it?
Overriding a block is off unless you turn it on. If you do, you can allow a site for a few minutes after saying what you need it for. You can also end the session at any time — this is a tool for your own focus, not a lock.
Can it filter adult websites?
Rymot blocks the sites and apps you add to your list during focus sessions. To filter adult sites across the whole computer all the time, Settings → Safe Browsing walks you through setting up a family DNS service step by step for your system.
Does it work on my phone?
No. Rymot Local is a desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Does it send the sites I visit anywhere?
No. Domains are classified and stored on your computer only, and private-browsing windows are never recorded.
Keep the focus. Free, on your machine, in two minutes.
